Liberty Deer-WIP

Last year, at Sewtopia, someone was working on a Christmas quilt and I became infatuated with the blocks! Holly was making the cutest deer from the Big Game Quilt pattern. I quit obsessing and moved on with my madness of a life. I have been collecting Liberty of London cuts for a year now to make a quilt and I have acquired extra (gasp!) and duplicates.

The cuts were just big enough to use for the deer appliqué and I had enough blues to make 9 blocks. I know what it takes to make an appliqué block, but I really thought I’d whip this baby out in no time! Yeah. No.

I used Aurifil 50 wt. thread and the big Bernina 750/770 for this quilt, the blanket stitch is my finisher of choice for appliqué, I just can’t with a zigzag, you go ahead, though…

It’s cool, I love this work in progress.
