I thought this little shirts pattern was so cute when I saw it at Quilt Market a few years ago and had one idea for it–I wanted to make a mini quilt for my husband’s dad.
At our outing club, there are cocktail parties on the big 3 summer holiday weekends and my father-in-law always wears a hawaiian-style shirt to them. I found these small-scaled floral prints and matched them with bits of solid for contrast and started the paper piecing! I made one block a night, it took about 30-40 minutes for each one, as I had a cider & talked while sewing.
The top one has a gray background (Memorial Day & it’s usually rainy). The quilting took a very long time, in fact, I lost steam on it and quit working on it for a while…
I made this entire project on one of my Singer Featherweights & did self binding to finish it.
Roger loved his shirts & it’s hanging at the cabin now.
